Despite his best attempts to rescue the women, Gentry is forced to leave them behind, due to the fear that the women have of their captors. I need to read #1, plus that # 3 when it comes out. I am planning to keep an eye out for Greaneys next book, Red Metal, a really cool-sounding war thriller that is coming out in July this year. Throughout the course of the novel Greaney shines a light on this foul trade, as his protagonist encounters this evil in Europe and deals with a number of characters affected by it. At over 500 pages long, I was worried that this might drag in some places, but I found myself fairly absorbed by the awesome plot and sufficiently pumped up by the huge number of firefights, close combat sequences and high-speed chases. The Russo directors and Roth hope that the film will become the next Bourne Identity movie series and that it will enjoy just as much success. Court Gentry is no James Bond, but the reader is left with the unmistakable impression that Gentry could waste Bond and ten others like him before they'd even have the chance to unbutton their fancy suits and order a cocktail. I wish he wasn't so busy with Tom Clancy stuff, so he could focus more on the Gray Man series. I found this worked extremely well to tell a complex narrative, as the reader gets to see what everyone, from the mastermind of the conspiracy to members of the various kill teams hunting the protagonists, is doing and thinking. You can kiss your natural gas good-bye. Court Gentry was the Gray Man because he believed there existed bad men in the world who truly needed to die. The exciting narrative, beautifully descriptive and intensely real scenes across the entire series will leave you with more than just another clichd CIA assassin story; The Gray Man series goes above and beyond the well-worn and predictive narratives of fictional thrillers and gives great credibility to a genre often overlooked in literature.
